Day Treatment Services are aimed at providing structured therapeutic services to adolescents in need of more intensive therapeutic intervention than traditional outpatient counseling sessions. Day Treatment clients participate in a number of structured daily activities. The Day Treatment program may serve to divert a child from hospitalization or out of home placement or may provide a step down from hospitalization or CLIP placement. It is assumed that the referred youth will have a history of multiple problems, inclusive of psychiatric problems, abuse and victimization, substance abuse and education issues. Excelsior, due to the strong focus of group, milieu and cognitive behavior treatment, takes into consideration referrals who are intellectually lower functioning, but may defer placement consideration due to not being able to provide the quality of service needed.
Admissions Referrals are made first to Behavioral Healthcare Options (BHO), which serves the Spokane County RSN as the Administrative Services Organization. A BHO Care Manager will take the initial call, learn about the issues and concerns of the youth and determine if the youth is residing within Spokane County and is Medicaid eligible. The BHO Care Manager may inquire as to the type of services that have been already offered, provided, or attempted. In most cases, referrals will be made by primary care providers (PCP's) who are already connected with an agency that is contracted with the Spokane RSN. The PCP's are required to remain involved in the child's case and to provide case management and therapy services. The Excelsior Masters Level Clinician will sometimes co-facilitate family therapy sessions at the request of the PCP. The PCP should be prepared to provide direct information to BHO Care Managers as well as be involved with other interested parties as appropriate.
Length of Treatment The Day Treatment Program can be up to 120 days, but the average length of stay is about 90 days. A typical Day Treatment client's schedule would be about 5 hours of treatment 4 days a week. Services are available 7:30 am to 9:00 pm seven days a week. |
