This voluntary support enables Excelsior to provide services and programs beyond the basic necessities and contributes greatly to our success. Our recreational therapy, various leisure activities, after school enrichment and some educational programs are particularly dependent upon donations. There are a number of ways that you can contribute to Excelsior’s programs. As an active member of United Way of Spokane County, you can support through your company’s payroll deduction plan or an individual pledge. Your local United Way may also allow designations to either Excelsior directly or to the United Way of Spokane County. Federal employees can support Excelsior through the Combined Federal Campaign. Washington State employees can support Excelsior through the Washington State Combined Fund Drive. Excelsior is also an active member of Cars for Charity. This is a local program established and controlled by fourteen not for profit organizations in Spokane County. Individuals or organizations can donate any kind of vehicles to support one or all of the member charities. Cars for Charity daily operations are handled by Pull & Save Auto Parts and can be reached at 928-1900. One call and they can make all the necessary arrangements to process your vehicle. Donations in kind are another way you can help support our program. Gently used recreational equipment such as baseball gloves, bats, basketballs, footballs, softballs, volleyballs, bicycles, and similar items are almost always needed and greatly appreciated. We are currently in need of bicycles. I you have a bicycle to donate that is in rideable condition, please feel free to contact our Recreation Coordinator at 328-7041, extension 154. Computers and software can often be used, but they must have at least a Pentium class processor. Volunteer tutoring positions are also available. One on one tutoring in basic reading, language and mathematical skills can be very rewarding to the volunteers and are immensely helpful to our residents. These positions require a strong commitment, the necessary tutoring skills and a great deal of patience. These are just some of the ways that you could help Excelsior. Endowments, planned giving, memorials and other methods are also available. Please contact our Development Staff for any questions or assistance you may have. Your support is always welcome and greatly appreciated. Indeed your support is vital in our efforts to help us "connect youth to their future".
