Residential

Throughout the course of placement, residents will receive individual counseling and group therapy focused on particular areas of concern; such as drug and alcohol education, sexual abuse and victimization, self esteem, anger management, and refusal skills.  Excelsior strives to create a environment culturally sensitive to all adolescents and families involved in the program.  Excelsior works with families and/or placing agencies to connect youth with their future and their return to the community.

  • Assessment

  • Individual therapy

  • Group therapy facilitated by the group life counselors, and other team professionals.

  • Specialized therapy groups focused on particular presenting problems or issues such as drug and alcohol education and treatment, Children of Alcoholics group, sexual abuse and victimization, self-esteem, anger management and refusal skills, sexual offender treatment, emancipation and life-skills training.

  • On-campus AA and Al-Anon meetings, COA, drug and alcohol education and treatment.

  • Sex-Education, HIV/AIDS prevention education is provided through the curriculum through group life staff and by the Chemical Dependency Staff.

  • Family counseling is provided as part of each client's treatment plan.  Family members are strongly encouraged to participate in planning and treatment unless legal sanctions prohibit contact.

  • Recreational Therapy
